It’s that time of year again. Rendang, ketupat, more rendang, lemang, even more rendang and sup gearbox. Just like every year, I would be at JohnSmith’s place on the eve and first day of Raya.

Cooking outside for the win! On the kuali on the left is the organs rendang and on the right we have the beef rendang. They started cooking it at 1pm and it was ready by 7pm.

Every couple of minutes you have to stir the rendang around or it will get burnt. It’s a tough job. Imagine this. It’s the last day of fasting so they are still fasting. It’s super hot. And it smells good. It really puts your will power to the test.

Not much to talk about cooking. Basically you slow cook it for like 6 hours. Stir it every few minutes and you kinda make it into a shape like a doughnut. That’s so it will not get burnt and the oil and seep to the centre and get dried.

This here is the sup gearbox. It’s like 200% cholesterol. You can only eat this once a year. After you take a bowl of this, you’ll get a head ache for about 45 minutes. This soup is called sup gearbox because there’s a whole cows leg in there. That’s part of the cows knee I think. Right now there’s a 3 legged cow walking around some where…

Buka puasa time. Just look at that happy face. That’s Lilo. He wanted me to post his picture on the blog so he can be famous. He paid me 5 bucks to post his picture up. During dinner we got an unexpected visitor. Spiderwoman.

Well basically its all about food food food, eating eating eating and talking smack. While eating I mentioned that I would like to start a “rent a kid” center. Let people get a feel of what its like of having a kid without the hassle of actually owning one. You can return the kid anytime you wish.

Then we came out with this great idea that we should do for next year. We decided that we were going to invite 12 orphans over for Raya! Get them some new clothes. Give them some money. Give them that special Raya feeling that they are missing.
