Just now while I was taking my lunch I read the above article in the Star newspaper. That snippet above was taken from their website which you can navigate from www.thestar.com.my.
When I read that I was fucking pissed. It’s not the first time they threatened to punish the owners. They always want to punish the owners. They should consider punishing the sellers if they want to curb this problem. As long as they sell that shit, people are going to buy it. I’m so damn cheap, I don’t even buy pirated stuff. I prefer my stuff free. So why am I complaining?
I am complaining cause this Datuk Seri fella obviously wanted to get into the newspaper or something for saying something really “smart”. First of all bro, nobody buy VCD already lah, we buy DVD now. Even DVD is dying, soon its Blu Ray. Which kampong you came out from? Maybe they said VCD as a safety net. If anything backfires they can go like “I said VCD ma… bukan DVD…”.
I don’t have to mention but I’m sure every where you go nowadays you can see some guys selling DVDs VCDs. Recently they even stopped using the direct sales method and gone back to opening tables.
Pirated shit is a very lucrative business. There is a lot of money to be made by everybody and I mean everybody. So can it be stopped? Not now, maybe in 10 years time. After all, pirated shit is harmless in most peoples eyes. Nobody died from watching pirated VCDs or DVDs. Except if the white cloth guys decide to take over the red cloth guys territory.
So what if the stars and singers bitch that they lose money. They have a lot of money to begin with. So share the wealth mother fucker. Anyway there is an agreement that pirates cannot sell pirated local material.
I think I’ve spoken too much already. So in conclusion, if you want to stop this pirated shit, you punish the sellers. Not the buyers.

i think pirates dvd/vcd is not a major problem in our country, they should focus on the crime rate that has been escalating.
Instead of catching the consumers they should catch the people that sell it

Every once or twice in a year they will say “we are going to punish the buyers”. Like as if that’s going to stop anybody.
